Elvis
Elvis is the nickname of Erickson S-64 Air-Crane, tail number OB-2081-P (N179AC), which has gained fame in Australia as an obvious and valuable tool in bushfire suppression. The helicopter, which can hold 9,500 litres (2,500 US gal) of water or foam mix, has been brought out by the Victorian Government from the United States for each fire season since 2001-2002. The aircraft obtained its nickname due to the time that it spent working for the United States National Guard in Memphis, where singer Elvis Presley lived for most of his life.

Energy Australia / Solar Panels
Commissioned by Energy Australia, I spent the afternoon with a jovial group of predominately Irish tradies, whose physical agility was matched by their constant joking. Some of the men had worked together in Ireland, and their constant banter and ribbing clearly showed long and affectionate friendships. I felt like part of the team.

This suite of images was captured over four days to build an image library for Energy Australia. Commissions like these require careful planning, location scouting and casting a diverse range of people including young couples, families and retirees. We then set up specific scenes and provide some basic direction to the talent, observe and capture often unexpected and impromptu moments.

In 2014, The International Aids Council commissioned me for 5 days to cover the World AIDS conference in Melbourne. The event was overshadowed by the downing of flight MH17, among the passengers were delegates en route to the 20th International AIDS Conference in Melbourne, including Joep Lange, a former president of the International AIDS Society, which organized the conference. Images from the public gathering at Federation Square mourning the loss of victims of MH17 were captured on an iPhone due to logistical issues and transmitted around the world.
